Individual Therapy

“I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free.” Michelangelo

Individual therapy is focused on finding healing, clarity or connection within.

You may be experiencing the impact of trauma.

You may feel stuck in a particular area of life and don’t know how to get unstuck.

You may want to work on healing old wounds to improve your relationships and decisions going forward.

Overwhelming experiences are not just things that happened to us, but also the things that did not happen.

Traumatic or overwhelming experiences from early in life can show up later in different ways.  You might experience things like:

Strong memories of the events or few memories at all from childhood.

A tendency to go numb and disconnect, a feeling of detachment from yourself.

Big emotional reactions that seem like an overreaction to current situations.

A deep shame and a wondering: “Is it me?  Was it my fault?”

“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.” Carl Rogers

I have worked with those who have experienced childhood physical or sexual abuse, difficult or traumatic family histories, problems in relationships, unrelenting fear and anxiety, persistent depression, assault, perinatal loss and more.

We will use the space between us, client and therapist, to help you move toward connection and healing.

In individual therapy, I primarily use the models of EFIT: Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy and EMDR: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. These models are researched based and are highly effective forms of therapy.

Regardless of what brings you to therapy, together we will discover the wounded parts, find what is needed for growth, and move you further along your journey.
